In a significant development for India’s cooperative dairy sector, GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of the newly constituted Sardar Patel Cooperative Dairy Federation (SPCDF), headquartered in Gandhinagar.
Alongside him, Sangram Chaudhari has been elected unopposed as the Vice Chairman of the federation.
Both appointments have received formal approval from the Office of the Cooperative Election Authority under the Union Ministry of Cooperation. Earlier, the elections to the Board of Directors were also completed unanimously without contest.
Launched by Amit Shah, SPCDF has been envisioned as a national platform to replicate the success of the Amul model across the country. The federation has been established with an initial capital base of Rs 200 crore and aims to connect more than 20 lakh dairy farmers across 20 states.
Inspired by the cooperative vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the federation seeks to strengthen dairy cooperative networks beyond Gujarat by ensuring fair pricing, democratic participation, value addition, and sustainable growth for millions of farmers. The initiative is expected to play a key role in advancing the government’s vision of “Sahakar Se Samriddhi.”
