The International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) has expanded its global network with the admission of seven new member organisations from Paraguay, Chile, Ethiopia, the Philippines and Malaysia.

The new additions include four Full Members and three Associate Members, taking the ICA’s total membership to 331 organisations from 106 countries, comprising 281 Full Members and 50 Associate Members. Paraguay contributed two financial cooperatives, Yoayu and COOPEDUC, while Chile’s BanCrece savings and credit cooperative and Ethiopia’s Tederash SACCOS also joined as Full Members.

Three organisations joined as Associate Members: Ethiopia’s Henosis Savings and Credit Cooperative Society, the Philippine Chamber of Cooperatives, and the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (MCSC).

The new members cited opportunities for global networking, knowledge sharing, training, innovation, and stronger international representation as key reasons for joining the ICA.

The Alliance said the latest expansion further strengthens the worldwide cooperative movement and promotes greater collaboration across regions and sectors.
