In a major step to ensure the timely availability of fertilisers to farmers, the Andhra Pradesh Government has nominated AP Markfed as the nodal agency for the procurement, pre-positioning, maintenance of buffer stocks and distribution of 1.5 lakh metric tonnes (LMTs) of fertilisers during 2026-27.
The decision was issued on Thursday by the Agriculture and Cooperation Department. Under the order, AP Markfed will procure and distribute 1.20 LMTs of urea, 0.25 LMTs of DAP, 0.04 LMTs of complex fertilisers and 0.01 LMTs of MOP.
The fertilisers will be supplied to farmers through the network of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Rythu Seva Kendras (RSKs) across the state.
The government has directed the Director of Agriculture, Andhra Pradesh, and the Managing Director of AP Markfed to take immediate action to implement the order.
