GCMMF raises milk price to help farmers

Amul Dairy has raised its milk procurement prices by Rs 10 on a kg of fat for buffalo milk and Rs 4.5 on cow milk after a fall in production due to summer, media quotes official sources saying.

Amul’s daily milk procurement has gone down from 30 lakh litres in the winter to 25 lakh litres in summer.

The increase in prices is likely to benefit a little less than a million cattle breeders connected with 1,200 milk associations of Amul Dairy.

Usually, summer shows contradictory trends of a drop in milk production and an increase in the price of fodder which give rise to financial difficulties for the cattle breeders.
