The Jammu division of Indian Railways achieved a milestone with the arrival of the first special milk freight train from Gujarat, led by Amul.
The train carried 20 wagons of Amul products, including milk, milk powder, lassi, and buttermilk, to Jammu and Kashmir. Ten wagons were unloaded at Bari Brahman and ten at Anantnag, each carrying about 500 tonnes.
Officials said the Amul initiative will reduce transport costs, ensure steady dairy supply, and strengthen food security while boosting trade links between Gujarat and the Kashmir Valley.
