Income Tax officials conducted a survey at scores of places including cooperative banks, in Jalna district in Maharashtra. The survey was aimed at sending a message to those who are refusing to cough up their black money, reports Times of India.

According to tax officials, small cooperative banks in the district were being used as a proxy to carry out alleged illegal transactions.

The banks have been at work making transactions appear legal.

Officials said tax evaders and defaulters will face the consequences of not disclosing their income after the expiry of the September 30 deadline.
