CICOPA, in collaboration with CICOPA Asia Pacific, will organise an online webinar on September 7 to examine the cooperative movement in Palestine and the challenges faced by cooperatives amid the ongoing crisis.
Titled “Cooperatives in Times of Crisis: Cooperative Movement in Palestine and Kalandia Camp Women’s Handicraft Cooperative,” the webinar will feature Sahar Farraj, a leader of the Kalandia Camp Women’s Handicraft Cooperative.
She will discuss the historical development of Palestine’s cooperative movement, which has evolved over more than a century, and its current situation, particularly following the devastation caused to cooperatives in Gaza since October 2023.
The Kalandia Camp Women’s Handicraft Cooperative recently joined the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) and CICOPA. The programme will also explore ways the global cooperative network can support Palestinian cooperatives.
CICOPA Asia Pacific President and CICOPA Vice-President Osamu Nakano will deliver the opening remarks. The two-hour webinar will include a presentation and interactive Q&A session.
