In a major push towards modernization of cooperative banking, Chhattisgarh Cooperation Commissioner and Registrar of Cooperative Societies Mahadev Kavre held a review meeting with representatives of 12 urban cooperative banks across the state.
During the meeting, Kavre directed banks to actively participate in innovative initiatives launched by the Union Ministry of Cooperation and expand modern banking services for customers.
He emphasized the need to introduce digital facilities such as mobile banking, internet banking, and AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System) to provide easier and more efficient banking services.
The banks were also advised to join the Umbrella Organisation formed to provide technical support and help cooperative banks adopt modern banking technologies. Officials said this would enable faster implementation of digital banking services and improve customer experience.
Sumit Hans, an official of the Umbrella Organisation, briefed participating banks about the benefits and technological support available through the platform.
Several cooperative banks from Raipur, Durg, Bhilai, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Mahasamund, Ambikapur, and Jagdalpur attended the meeting.
