The Bihar Cabinet has approved the Bihar State Cooperative Policy 2026, marking a major step towards expanding and modernising the state’s cooperative sector, media reports say.
Aligned with the National Cooperative Policy, the new framework aims to build a self-reliant, inclusive and sustainable cooperative ecosystem while promoting balanced economic development across Bihar.
Guided by the vision of “Strong Cooperatives, Prosperous Bihar”, the policy seeks to strengthen existing cooperatives, encourage the formation of new institutions and improve access to cooperative services.
The initiative is expected to boost grassroots participation, enhance livelihood opportunities and contribute to the state’s broader goal of achieving a developed and prosperous Bihar through the cooperative movement.
