Bharat Taxi is rapidly emerging as a major driver-owned mobility cooperative, promoting the vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” through a technology-driven cooperative model. Launched on February 5 by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the platform enables drivers to become direct stakeholders rather than service providers.
According to a Gujarat CMO release, Bharat Taxi has over six lakh drivers nationwide and more than 35 lakh app downloads. The cooperative model ensures zero commission, allowing drivers to retain full ride earnings. Officials claim driver incomes have risen by 25–30 per cent after joining the platform.
Jayen Mehta, Chairman of Bharat Taxi and MD of Amul, described this as a structural shift in the sector. He said the initiative represents a structural transformation in the mobility sector.
