Leaders from India’s cooperative banking sector participated in the International Symposium of State Cooperative Institutions on the theme “Fueling Inclusive and Equitable Growth,” being held on May 28-29 at the United Nations Headquarters, New York City, USA.
The symposium is being organized by the International Cooperative Banking Association (ICBA), a sectoral organization of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), representing cooperative financial institutions and cooperative banks across the world.
Representing the Indian cooperative banking sector at the global event are NUCFDC Chairman Jyotindra Mehta, Janata Sahakari Bank, Pune Chairman Ravindra Hejib, TJSB Sahakari Bank Chairman Sharad Gangal, NUCFDC CEO Prabhat Chaturvedi, NAFSCOB Managing Director Bhima Subrahmanyam, ULCCS Director Kishore Kumar T.K., and other cooperative leaders.
The symposium is focusing on the role of cooperative financial institutions, including cooperative banks and credit unions, in promoting inclusive growth and supporting MSMEs, farmers, women entrepreneurs, and underserved communities.
Discussions are also highlighting the importance of sustainable and community-based financial systems aligned with global development goals.
