National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL) is marketing certified organic products under the ‘Bharat Organics’ brand through e-commerce platforms, modern retail chains and cooperative outlets, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
In a written reply, Shah said Bharat Organics products are available through Safal/Mother Dairy, NAFED, NCCF and other cooperative outlets, besides NCOL’s Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) portal.
He said NCOL procures and markets only certified organic products conforming to the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) standards notified by APEDA. The products are sourced from certified farmer groups, Internal Control Systems (ICS) and certified operators.
NCOL also conducts mandatory laboratory testing for pesticide residues and other quality parameters before marketing the produce, along with traceability and quality-control mechanisms.
Shah said NCOL promotes NPOP-certified ICS groups through cooperatives and facilitates procurement of organic produce from farmers at fair and transparent prices.
The cooperative has signed MoUs with 28 States and Union Territories to promote the organic cooperative ecosystem and increase farmer participation in organic farming.
