A total of 274 Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) were registered across the country during the last three financial years, with Maharashtra accounting for the highest number, according to data placed before the Rajya Sabha by Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday.
As per the State-wise data, 95 MSCS were registered in 2023-24, 109 in 2024-25 and 70 in 2025-26.
Maharashtra topped the list with 77 registrations over the three-year period, followed by Kerala with 68 and Uttar Pradesh with 40. Tamil Nadu recorded 18 registrations, while Delhi and Karnataka registered 12 each.
Gujarat accounted for 9 registrations, while Telangana and Bihar recorded 4 each. Haryana and Madhya Pradesh registered 4 and 4 societies respectively.
The data shows that registrations peaked at 109 in 2024-25 before declining to 70 in 2025-26.
The Ministry of Cooperation said the State-wise details of MSCS registered during the last three years were provided in an annexure to the Rajya Sabha reply.
