The fourth meeting of the State Cooperative Development Committee (SCDC) reviewed the progress of major cooperative sector initiatives in Assam and discussed measures to strengthen cooperative institutions across the state.
The meeting assessed the implementation of godown projects under the World’s Largest Grain Storage Plan (WLGSP) and examined steps to accelerate approvals and execution through an Integrated Single Window Mechanism.
Progress of PACS computerisation was also reviewed, with 581 PACS completing day-end operations, 540 ready for transition to e-PACS mode, and Phase-II implementation underway for 126 additional PACS.
The committee also reviewed the expansion of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Kendras (PMKSK), including the upgradation of 50 PACS, and the performance of Common Service Centres (CSCs) operated through PACS, which have facilitated more than 38,000 transactions worth nearly Rs 1.7 crore.
Discussions further focused on strengthening multipurpose, dairy and fishery cooperative societies, ongoing membership drives, and the computerisation of Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) offices. Directions were issued to expedite implementation, improve service delivery through cooperatives and ensure timely completion of all projects.
