Amul eyes Rs 650-Crore Dairy Project in Bengal

Amul is likely to invest around Rs 650 crore in a major dairy project in West Bengal, a move expected to strengthen the state’s dairy infrastructure and create employment opportunities.

BJP leaders shared social media posts claiming the facility would be Amul’s first fully owned dairy plant in the state, though no official announcement has yet been made by the government.

State Animal Resources Development Minister Dilip Ghosh said more investments are likely to come to Bengal, citing growing interest from investors in India and abroad.

Referring to the Haringhata dairy plant and Mother Dairy, he alleged severe mismanagement and claimed Mother Dairy’s daily milk production had sharply declined from nearly six lakh litres to around 30,000 litres.
