More than 29.5 lakh farmers in Odisha have benefited from the use of Nano Urea and Nano DAP over the last three years, the Government informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, while clarifying that it does not directly set up nano fertiliser plants or provide any financial assistance for nano fertilisers.
Replying to a question, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel said the Centre is promoting nano fertilisers through awareness camps, field demonstrations, Kisan Sammelans, webinars, regional-language films, PM Kisan Samridhi Kendras, Kisan Drones and battery-operated sprayers.
The Minister noted that while the Centre offers no subsidy for nano fertilisers, the Odisha Government is providing incentives under several State schemes, including food grains, pulses, maize and cotton programmes, with assistance ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,200 per hectare.
Patel also informed the House that extensive awareness campaigns were organised across Odisha during 2025-26, including 1,723 farmers’ meetings, 1,802 field demonstrations, 531 Nano DAP seed-treatment campaigns, 38 Kisan Melas and the distribution of 10 lakh technical leaflets, besides digital and mass-media outreach to encourage wider adoption of nano fertilisers.
