Marking the fifth anniversary of the Ministry of Cooperation and Cooperative Week, Micro ATM devices were distributed to selected Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) at a programme held in Guwahati.
The initiative, implemented by the Assam Co-operative Apex Bank Ltd. with support from NABARD’s Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF), aims to strengthen rural banking services and expand financial inclusion across Assam.
Assam Minister for Cooperation, Kaushik Rai, who attended the event, said the initiative would significantly enhance access to banking services in rural areas while supporting the state’s rural economy.
He highlighted that equipping PACS with Micro ATMs would enable doorstep banking, improve digital financial services, and make banking more accessible for farmers and rural residents.
The programme was also attended by Apex Bank Chairman and MLA Biswajit Phukan, Nagaon MLA Rupak Sarmah, and other dignitaries. The initiative is expected to further strengthen the cooperative credit structure and promote digital banking at the grassroots level across Assam.
