Marking the International Day of Cooperatives and five years of the Ministry of Cooperation, the Pune District Central Cooperative Bank (PDCCB) organised a felicitation ceremony for high-performing Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) excelling in computerisation, along with a loan distribution programme.
Speaking at the event, Divisional Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Pune Division, Digvijay Aher, said Pune district has emerged as a frontrunner in cooperative computerisation.
He urged cooperatives to diversify beyond credit by promoting agri-allied businesses, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), women’s self-help groups and youth entrepreneurship while embracing digital governance and e-services.
District Deputy Registrar Prakash Jagtap stressed strict compliance with cooperative laws, while PDCCB Chairman Dr. Digambar Durgade said recent policy reforms, computerisation, transparency and better governance are transforming cooperative institutions into more efficient and competitive organisations. Vice Chairman Sunil Chandere highlighted the cooperative movement’s role in rural development and social transformation.
During the programme, outstanding PACS were honoured with certificates and mementoes, while loans were distributed to eligible members and women’s self-help groups.
Representatives from cooperative institutions across 13 talukas participated, reaffirming Pune’s commitment to technology-driven, transparent and member-centric cooperative growth.
