Rajasthan is positioning itself as one of India’s fastest-growing cooperative success stories, with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma asserting that cooperatives are driving rural prosperity, employment and agricultural transformation across the state.
Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Cooperation Department on Sunday, Sharma directed officials to maximise the utilisation of cooperative warehouses, expand cooperatives into new sectors and promote innovative initiatives.
He also called for scaling up the cooperative-based Bharat Taxi project and encouraging the establishment of more Jan Aushadhi centres through cooperative institutions.
Rajasthan has emerged as a national leader in cooperative digitisation, recording over 10 crore ERP transactions and completing computerisation of PACS.
The state has also approved 200 warehouses under the world’s largest grain storage scheme, enrolled 8.9 lakh new cooperative members, and reduced MSP payment timelines for farmers from 15 days to just 4–5 days, reinforcing its reputation as a cooperative powerhouse.
