Madhya Pradesh is set to become the first state to launch a large-scale network of women-led cooperative societies, with Cooperation Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang announcing that the initiative will begin next month as part of the state’s expanding cooperative agenda.

Addressing the Sahakari Saptah celebrations at Apex Bank on Sunday, Sarang said the initiative would strengthen women’s economic participation while making cooperatives a key driver of self-reliance, employment and inclusive growth.

He added that Madhya Pradesh is also poised to emerge as a national leader in the seed sector, building on its achievements in cooperative digitisation, online audits and becoming the first state to issue online Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs).

Highlighting the role of cooperatives in uplifting farmers, youth and economically weaker sections, Sarang said the sector is creating new livelihood opportunities under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.

The event also honoured top-performing cooperative banks, societies and individuals for excellence in membership drives, deposit mobilisation and innovation during Cooperative Week celebrations across the state.
