The Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim, has inaugurated Cooperative Week Celebration 2026 with the observance of “Shubharambh and Pratigya Diwas”, marking the beginning of a nationwide campaign celebrating five years of the Ministry of Cooperation.
The programme featured flag hoisting, messages from the Governor and Chief Minister of Sikkim, a cooperative group song, and the distribution of share certificates to cooperative members. Officials highlighted the role of cooperatives in promoting inclusive growth, rural development and community empowerment.
A presentation on GPS tagging of cooperative societies showcased the department’s digital transformation efforts, while an expert talk emphasized the adoption of modern technologies in the cooperative sector.
The week-long celebrations, running from June 29 to July 6, will focus on awareness, digitisation, youth participation and sustainable development to strengthen Sikkim’s cooperative movement.
