The Ministry of Cooperation is working closely with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to strengthen the operational capacity of cooperatives and ensure greater access to resources, Cooperation Ministry Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani said at a two-day National Cooperative Conference in Bastar, Chhattisgarh.

Speaking on the first day of the conference, Bhutani said the Ministry’s quarterly review meetings provide an important platform to assess ongoing initiatives in the cooperative sector and discuss their implementation across states.

He emphasised that the Ministry is working closely with the RBI to provide cooperatives with adequate operational freedom, while enabling them to mobilise resources more effectively.

The partnership with the central bank is also aimed at ensuring that farmers and other stakeholders connected with the cooperative network can access resources at concessional rates, he said.
