The Cooperation Department of the Government of Bihar has directed cooperative banks operating in border districts to install UV Lamps and BIS-standard Note Sorting Machines (NSM) at their branches as part of measures to strengthen currency security.
The move is aimed at improving the detection of counterfeit currency notes and ensuring safer cash-handling practices across cooperative banking institutions located in sensitive border areas.
The UV lamps will help bank staff carry out preliminary checks of currency notes, while BIS-standard Note Sorting Machines are designed to support efficient sorting and detection of suspicious notes during cash processing.
With cooperative banks playing an important role in serving rural and semi-urban customers, the installation of these security devices is intended to reinforce customer confidence, currency safety and secure banking operations in Bihar’s border districts.
