NAFED is rapidly expanding its non-procurement business by building partnerships with major institutional and commercial players, including HPCL, the railways and the CSD canteen network, Managing Director Deepak Agarwal said at the federation’s 69th Annual General Body Meeting at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Agarwal said the federation was moving beyond its traditional procurement-focused role and creating new avenues for marketing and selling NAFED products. Several NAFED products have been empanelled with CSD canteens, giving the cooperative access to a network of around 1,200 outlets serving the armed forces.
The federation has also established business linkages with HPCL and connected with the railways, including Vande Bharat trains. These institutional tie-ups are expected to provide additional markets for NAFED products while broadening its customer base.
NAFED has also begun supplying rice to the armed forces, in addition to pulses that it had supplied earlier. The federation is simultaneously pursuing business opportunities with several private companies.
The approach marks a significant shift towards making NAFED a more commercially active and future-ready cooperative.
