Maharashtra-based Bassein Catholic Co-operative Bank (BCCB) is targeting deposits of more than Rs 10,000 crore during the current financial year and aims to move from the RBI-defined Tier-3 to Tier-4 category, Chairman Benauld Patrick Dias said while reviewing the bank’s performance for FY 2025-26.

The bank crossed the Rs 13,000 crore total business milestone during the year, with total business reaching Rs 13,136.14 crore as on March 31, 2026. Deposits grew by 7.31% to Rs 9,049.23 crore, compared with Rs 8,432.84 crore in the previous financial year.

Dias expressed confidence that continued deposit mobilisation and business expansion would enable BCCB to cross the Rs 10,000 crore deposit mark by the end of the current financial year and help the bank progress towards the next regulatory tier.

According to BCCB’s 108th Annual Report, gross income increased 2.76% to Rs 806.64 crore, while gross profit rose 3.70% to Rs 149.54 crore. Net profit stood at Rs 118.76 crore, compared with Rs 115.62 crore in FY 2024-25, registering a growth of 2.72%. The Board has recommended a 15% dividend on a pro-rata basis.

The bank also reported a significant improvement in asset quality. Gross NPA declined to 6.75% from 9.53%, with gross NPAs falling from Rs 397.33 crore to Rs 275.76 crore. Net NPA remained at zero.

The bank attributed the improvement to sustained recovery efforts, close monitoring of high-value accounts, periodic reviews and prudent write-offs. During the year, advances amounting to Rs 71.30 crore were technically written off.

BCCB’s CASA deposits increased 11.55% to Rs 2,798.38 crore, while total investments stood at Rs 6,154.57 crore, including Rs 3,277.11 crore in government securities.

The bank maintained a strong capital position, with CRAR at 24.26%, well above the regulatory requirement of 12%. Owned funds stood at Rs 1,775.20 crore, while the bank had 1,02,775 members and paid-up share capital of Rs 97.56 crore.

Dias also highlighted BCCB’s achievement of Eligibility Criteria for Business Authorization (ECBA) status and its continued investment in technology and digital infrastructure.

Going forward, the bank plans to focus on strengthening its retail and MSME portfolio, digital banking capabilities, customer experience, operational efficiency and risk management. The Chairman also reiterated the bank’s commitment to sound governance, regulatory compliance and transparency.

During FY 2025-26, BCCB received recognition for its initiatives in digital payments, NPA management, data warehouse and ADF implementation, and investment transformation.

Dias expressed gratitude to the Board, management, employees, customers, shareholders, regulators and well-wishers for their continued support.
