A keenly watched election for the Haridwar District Cooperative Bank (DCCB) saw two Haridwar-based cooperators, Susheel Rathi and Pradeep Chaudhary, face each other for a director’s post. Both are also well-known figures in Delhi’s cooperative circles, adding interest to the contest, in which Rathi emerged victorious by a convincing margin.

In the election held on Monday, 92 of the 94 eligible votes were cast in Constituency-7 (Special Committees). Rathi secured 67 votes, while Chaudhary polled 27 votes, giving Rathi a clear 40-vote victory.

The contest was among the most closely followed battles in the Haridwar DCCB elections, given the prominence of both cooperators in Delhi’s cooperative network.

The bank’s Board comprises 13 director seats, of which eight were filled unopposed. Elections were held for the remaining five seats, with Bharati Devi, Lata, Aanchal Singhal, Rajveer Singh and Susheel Rathi emerging victorious.

The next key contest is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, when elections for the Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be held.
