The International Cooperative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) will convene the Third Asia Pacific Cooperative Registrars’ Forum from April 20 to 23, 2027, in Polgolla, Sri Lanka, bringing together cooperative regulators, public authorities, cooperative leaders and development partners from across the region.
Hosted by Sri Lanka’s National Institute of Cooperative Development (NICD), the forum will focus on “Beyond IYC 2025: Advancing Enabling Legal and Policy Frameworks for Cooperatives in the Decade Ahead”. The four-day gathering is expected to provide a platform for participants to exchange experiences, discuss regulatory challenges and explore ways to strengthen legal and policy frameworks supporting cooperatives.
The forum will build on the momentum generated by the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 and recent legislative and policy developments across Asia and the Pacific. Through dialogue, peer learning and collaboration, participants will seek approaches to create more enabling environments for cooperative enterprises and institutions.
The initiative comes as cooperatives across the region increasingly seek supportive policies, stronger governance frameworks and regulatory systems capable of promoting resilient, inclusive and sustainable cooperative development.
