Women Co-ops: NCCE discusses ways of doubling income

NCCE-the training arm of NCUI recently organized a 3 day Leadership Development Programme for Chairpersons and Directors of Women Cooperatives of India in New Delhi.

In her opening address, Mrs. Jeena, Chairperson, PCC, Manipur said women cooperatives are playing a positive role in increasing the income of women by involving them in different cooperative activities. She also made a pitch for women starting agro-based small processing units so as to double farmers’ income by 2022.

The aim of the exercise was to touch up their managerial and entrepreneurship skills so they could manage their cooperative societies professionally, said NCUI Chief Executive N Satyanarayan talking to Indian Cooperative.

The participants also trained about how to establish micro-enterprises on cooperative and SHGs basis to involve more and more women and youth in gainful agricultural activities, he added.

Dr. V. K. Dubey, Director, NCCE expressed his views about how this programme offers the participants specific skills to generate employment in rural India.

As a part of the programme the participants visited to Topic Centre NCDC, Gurgaon. The participants learnt about the NCDC Schemes and Strategy for Cooperative Development, Common Loan Application & Requirements for NCDC Assistance, Integrated Approach for Cooperative Development and Attributes of Successful Cooperatives.
