Professionalizing co-ops a big challenge for India: Sanghani

The National Centre for Cooperative Education of National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) started a 12 Weeks Online Diploma Program titled “Diploma in Cooperative Education and Development” from 1st February 2021.

The Diploma which was inaugurated by NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, has about 45 participants from Nepal and various states of India like Assam, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Telangana, Gujarat, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir etc.

The Diploma subject includes Cooperative Education, Environment of Cooperative, Cooperative Management, Accounting & Taxation and Cooperative Law.

Welcoming the participants, President NCUI Sanghani said Professionalization is a big challenge for the cooperative organisations today. With more than 8 lakh cooperatives functioning in various areas of socio-economic activities, the cooperatives in India have many success stories like AMUL, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, Uralungal Cooperative Society, etc.

“However, many of the cooperative organisations lack professional manpower due to which they are not able to compete in the market economy. So, it is a big challenge for the cooperative organisations to create a well-trained manpower which is well versed with latest skills and technology so as to contribute it’s best to the success of the organisations”, underlined the President.

Through this Diploma, the cooperative personnel, youth and students acquire advanced knowledge in cooperative management that fulfil their educational expectations and the need for developing their professional management skills for good career in cooperatives and also appeal to the participants to enhance their knowledge about cooperatives through this programme so that they can apply your learning in your organizations, he added.

Those who spoke on the occasion included NCUI Chief Executive N Satya Narayana, Jyotichandra Ojha CEO RMDC Nepal.

Dr. V.K. Dubey, Executive Director NCCE welcomed the guests. Ms. Sandhya Kapoor, Director NCCE proposed a vote of thanks.  Anant Dubey, Dy Director, NCCE moderated the session and coordinated the programme.
