NCUI: Will Satyanarayan replace Dinesh?

NCUI Chief Executive Dr. Dinesh’s fate is going to be decided this week as his extended term of five years is coming to an end mid April. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, NCUI President who has to take the final call on the matter is, however, keeping his cards close to his chest.

“No; later ; will talk to you later on this ” said Yadav to this correspondent when he raised the matter with him. Yadav a frank man otherwise has not dropped any hint of the impending decision even to his close friends, Indian Cooperative has gathered after talking to some of them.

Meanwhile, the NCUI headquarters abounds with theories regarding Dr Dinesh’s extension. While some say he would continue till the ICA A-P General Assembly scheduled for December in Delhi takes place. NCUI is playing host to the show. Others surmise he will fold his tent as someone will be given charge till a proper candidate is found through advertisement.

Meanwhile, the next man after Dinesh at NCUI, Mr N Satyanarayan is being sounded by the Agriculture Ministry. Indian Cooperative has gathered that Union State Agriculture Minister Mohanbhai Kundariya invited Satyanarayan to his office and weighed up his profile. A mild-mannered Satyanarayan is said to be an accomplished CA. He is known for not hurting anybody. Having a clean- image he is said to be number one in the race.

ED-Two Mohan Mishra, many say, is also in the race; Satyanarayan is ED-one. Mishra is held as a dynamic person who makes up for his juniority by competent monitoring of NCCT. He is the best choice, argue his friends.

The chances of Dr Dinesh continuing on the job are extremely bleak as there are a slew of complaints filed against him. One of the charges brought against him is he has been unnecessarily targeting and harassing suppliers to the apex cooperative body. Some of them told Indian Cooperative Dr Dinesh behaved like a LDC Clerk. “He was a mere Deputy Registrar earlier in an obscure University and joined two scales up in the NCUI – a rise that had him intoxicated with power,” quipped one of his detractors.

Another charge against him relates to expenditure of foreign exchange. Ministry has received complaints that foreign exchanges earned during foreign trips by Dr Dinesh are brought back home though he does not hesitate in signing the paper certifying that he has spent all in the foreign land.

The ball however lies in the president’s court ; who has played safe so far but cannot afford to do so anymore. A decision has to be taken and taken this week only. Stay tuned to Indian Cooperative for more information.
