NCUI trains cooperators; takes them to NCDC

NCCE of NCUI recently conducted the Leadership Development Training Programme for Chairman and Directors of Multi-State Cooperative Societies. More than 40 participants from Assam, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal attended the program.

The prime objective of the program was to provide participants with professional skill to run cooperative societies as well as to provide them with a platform to interact with their counterparts from other states.

Inaugurating the program, N. Satya Narayana, Chief Executive, NCUI emphasized the need of developing a band of responsible and competent cooperative leaders to meet the challenges in the future. He suggested cooperative shares need to be increased compared to the government shares.

Satyanarayan also called for implementation of provisions of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies, 2002. In addition, he talked about the applicability of Section 80 P of the Income Tax Act and its implications towards Cooperative Societies which fall within the purview of Section 80 P of the Act are entitled to deduction in respect of any income referred to in Sub-Section (2) thereof.

As a part of the training program, participants paid a study visit to NCDC, New Delhi. where Mukesh Kumar, Executive Director, NCDC made his presentation about the growth, development and policy issues of NCDC. Mr. Kumar also gave a brief presentation about the Financial Assistance by NCDC to cooperative societies especially PACS and weaker Sections of society.

During the program , the participants interacted with the faculty members / resource persons having discussions on various topics and getting their doubts resolved.

The participants also learnt about latest technologies, GST, Financial Assistance, the responsibilities of the management of cooperative societies & the challenges facing cooperative societies.

Government of India officials Managing Directors from different National level Organizations and Faculty of NCCE also attended the program. Dr. A. R. Srinath Deputy Director & Course Coordinator proposed a vote of thanks on the occasion.
