NCUI: Telangana Guv inaugurates South Zone conf; 5 states attend

One Day Conference on Cooperative Development for South Zone States was organised on Wednesday at KLN Prasad Auditorium of The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Federation House, Federation Marg, Red Hills, Hyderabad, Telangana by National Cooperative Union of India, (NCUI) an apex organisation representing the entire cooperative movement in the country.

The participating States were Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.  Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry inaugurated the conference and Dileep Sanghani, President, NCUI presided over the conference.

Dr Soundarrajan lauded the efforts of NCUI in empowering the farmers and artisans across India through training programs and field projects on cooperative education. She quoted Saint Thiruvalluvar, a renowned poet and philosopher of Tamilnadu to emphasize that cooperative philosophy is an age-old practice which has been practiced for centuries in India.

She stressed on the need to build capacities of cooperatives through technology and innovative approaches for realizing the vision of ‘Prosperity through Cooperatives’ of the Prime Minister. She said that the cooperative sector will have to play a key role in making India a USD 5 Trillion economy. She congratulated Dileep Sanghani, President, NCUI for steering various initiatives in the past three years for strengthening cooperation in the country.

Welcoming the Governor, other dignitaries and delegates of the conference, Dileep Sanghani President, NCUI thanked the Governor for sparing her valuable time for this conference. Sanghani briefed about the various activities of NCUI viz. Education and training, promotion of NCUI-HAAT for marketing of products for Primary societies etc. He once again thanked the Prime Minister for making a separate Ministry of Cooperation and made a seasoned Cooperator like Shri Amit Shah to lead the Ministry.

K Ravindra Rao, Chairman Telangana State Cooperative Bank thanked President NCUI for selecting Hyderabad for holding the south zone conference. He appreciated the efforts of NCUI for various collaboration with the different organisations of Telangana State and sought support from NCUI to strengthen the education and training system through Training Telangana State Cooperative Union.

A Technical Session was organised after the inauguration session in which Additional RCS, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, senior officials from NCUI and, Chairmen, Managing Directors, General Managers from State Coop. Federations/Bank, State Cooperative Unions and other prestigious cooperative organisations including Senior Scientist from Indian Institute of Millets Research presented their presentation.

The conference was attended by more than 300 delegate representatives composed of Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, Secretary, Members of PACS and different primary Cooperative societies mainly from Telangana and other southern states.

Among Senior Cooperative leaders K Ravindra Rao, Chairman, Telangana State Cooperative bank, M. Ganga Reddy, Chairman Telangana State Cooperative Marketing Federation, Ramesh Kumar Bung, Chairman A P Mahesh Urban Cooperative Bank, R Ramachandran, Director IFFCO & Member of Education Committee NCUI, Official from NCUI, IFFCO, Kribhco and Telangana State Cooperative Union participated in the event.

It may be recalled that in accordance with the objectives, NCUI organizes Conference/ Seminar/ Workshop at National/ State and Zonal level to clearly understand the issues/problems of the cooperative sector and evolve strategies to address the same. It also initiates required measures to strengthen and develop the Cooperative movement in the various regions. The Conference will have a great impact on formulation of future strategies to develop and strengthen the cooperative movement in the South Zone region.

Proposing a vote of thanks Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive, NCUI extended a heart-warming thanks to the Governor for gracing the occasion as Chief Guest despite her utmost busy engagements. He also thanked all other guests for their participation.
