NCUI penning book on late Laxmanrao Inamdar

RSS leader late Laxmanrao Inamdar-the legend who is credited with founding Sahakar Bharati would soon feature in the cooperative management courses as the apex body of cooperatives in the country NCUI is midway producing a book on him.

The writing of the book has progressed well and Indian Cooperative has learnt that the initial draft of the book has already been presented before the Ministry officials by the NCUI. The latter has secured the services of Mr Santosh Kumar Sharma-an ex-official of NCDC to write the book. Sharma, however, refused to divulge any details about the book and asked this reporter to talk to the NCUI President or the Chief Executive.

Indian Cooperative has also learnt that there is a move by the Ministry to rename some of the Institutes of Cooperative Managements after late Inamdar. NCUI has about 20 ICMs spread across the country which function as focal points of cooperative training.

Sahakar Bharati is celebrating the Inamdar centenary across the country by holding cooperative seminars where the teachings of Inamdar are being purveyed. Vijay Dewangan, one of the Sahakar Bharati officials has already written a book-let on Inamdar.

Earlier, in a Cooperative function in Delhi Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh said Laxmanrao’s teachings would be introduced in the courses of cooperative training and education.

A skilled orator and a great organizer Inamdar learnt his first lessons in cooperative from his joint family. Leading a life of a true cooperator, he is believed to have organized the makers of Kull Shawl into a cooperative network which fetched them a good price.

“Being an RSS man his life was as selfless as it could be. And it is for nothing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi regards him as his Guru”, said a Sahakar Bharati member.

Among many Sahakar Bharati members, Satish Marathe, Sahakar Bharati patron had a privilege to work with him.

NCUI sources say it is planning to publicize some leading cooperators and their achievements including Verghese Kurien and Tribhuvandas Patel of Kheda fame.
