NCUI kicks off international training program

NCUI has begun its five day International Program in collaboration with CICTAB known as “Training Techniques for Trainers of Co-operatives and Rural Financing Institutions in the SAARC Region” in Delhi at its headquarters on Tuesday.

About 35 participants of Central Banks, Cooperative and Rural financing institutions of SAARC countries viz Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and India are participating in the training program

Notable personalities including Balu Iyer, Regional Director of ICA (A-P), Dr. Manoj Nardeosingh, Assistant Secretary General, AARDO, K. Pathirana, CEO/GM, Coopfed, Sri Lanka, besides Chief Executive Dr N.Satyanaryana and other top officials of NCUI were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering ICA-AP Regional Director Balu Iyer said “Training is very important for everyone that helps participants get basic knowledge on specific topics. The knowledge which you gather during the five day training program could be implemented in cooperative institutions, Iyer said.

“NCUI and CICTAB have given you platform to interact with each other under one roof and to build network with other participants residing in different countries. Grab the opportunity and make the program successful”, he said.

Iyer lauded NCUI for organizing a special session for digitalization for the participants. Technology adoption in cooperatives is very important for competing with other players of the market”, he added.

In his address N Satyanarayan said “Around 70 percent of Indian population depends upon agriculture and a large number of them are caught up in poverty. There is a need to get farmers a fair deal.

“Where there is a cooperative, there is prosperity. The objective of cooperatives is to identify the last human being of society and help them overcome their poverty” said Satyanarayan.

The NCUI CE said there are around 8.3 lakh cooperative societies in India out of which 91 thousand societies are Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACCS) playing an important role in providing credit to farmers, he said.

Dr. Manoj Nardeosingh, Assistant Secretary General, AARDO stressed on rural transformation.” We want good rural financial institutions in India to meet the demands of farmers of the country. “I hope that this program will empower you in every aspect”, he added.

Later on, NCUI President Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav joined the inauguration ceremony and interacted with the participants. Ritesh Dey, Director, International Relations of NCUI coordinated the event. K.N Sinha Executive Director proposed a vote of thanks.
