NCUI holds south-zone conference in Kerela

The South Zone Cooperative Conference was organized by National Cooperative Union of India(NCUI) in collaboration with and State Cooperative Union at Thiruvananthapuram in  Kerala on March 12, 2012.

The South Zone consists states of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka  and Puducherry.  The conference reviewed the progress made by cooperatives of the Zone.It also analyzed challenges being faced by them.

This conference has added significance as it was organized in the back drop of Year 2012 as International Year of Cooperative declared by the United Nations.

The conference focused on the solutions of handicap being faced by cooperatives in southern zone and gave an opportunity to popularize cooperative business model.

The conference was inaugurated by Shri K.M. Chandrasekhar, former Cabinet Secretary in  Govt. of India. It was attended by 300 delegates. Some notable participants included Dr. V.M. Gopala Menon,  Secretary (Cooperation), Govt. of Kerala, K.V. Suresh Babu,  Registrar of Cooperative Societies, E. Narayanan, Chairman, State Cooperative Union, Kerala and Governing Council Member, NCUI.

NCUI was represented by Adv. K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA, Chairman, National Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks Federation and Vice-Chairman, NCUI and Dr. Dinesh, Chief Executive, National Cooperative Union of India, New Delhi.
