NCUI: Field Project staffs salaries to be revised

The staff of Field Projects of National Cooperative Union of India may get a substantial raise in their salary sooner than later.

Talking to Indian Cooperative Dr Dinesh, Chief Executive of NCUI said “A committee had been set up by the NCUI following the directive of the government of India to evaluate the works of field project staff and recommend a suitable hike in their pay-structure.”

On the question how soon could the staff expect to get the raise the Chief Executive said “they have already got a marginal hike around Diwali and the full-fledged restructuring to take place soon.”

The Committee formed to evaluate the pay structure includes members from NCUI, NCDC and Agricultural Ministry. They are evaluating the working and efficacy of field projects for the last five years.

The process of evaluation also includes visits to certain projects in their natural environment. This is an attempt at assessing their impact on the ground zero.

The Committee members recently landed back in Delhi after a visit to one such project in Kerala.

Indian Cooperative has been at the forefront raising the issue of poor salary structure of staff associated with the Field Projects.

As a special measure for strengthening the cooperative movement in the cooperatively retarded states/areas and reducing regional imbalance in development, the Government of India approved a central sector scheme funded by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1976.

Intensive efforts for cooperative development through Cooperative Education combined with farm/technical guidance are the main plank of the project approach.
