NCUI: Congress preparations enter feverish pitch

National Cooperative Union of India is moving in full swing to make its 25th June dated International Cooperative Congress a success. Dame Pauline, the President of International Cooperative Alliance has reportedly agreed to participate in the high-voltage cooperative show.

The President of India Shri Pranab Mukerji is slated to inaugurate this function. Union Agricultural Minister and cooperative doyen Sharad Pawar is going to preside over the Congress which is decked up with programs for two days.

NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh is busy spreading words about the Cooperative Congress by holding press conferences in different parts of the country including Banglore and Mumbai. The preparations have indeed come to a feverish pitch, said the Chief Executive of NCUI Dr Dinesh.

“Besides Mrs Pauline, several Chief Ministers, Governors and Cooperation Ministers of the states are going to participate in this function” added Dr Dinesh. NCUI sources said the Chief Ministers of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Meghalay have already confirmed their participation. Others may also follow.

More than five Governors including those of Punjab, Odisha, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are also slated to join the function. Cooperation Ministers of more than half a dozen states have confirmed their presence on the occasion, NCUI sources say.

The enthusiasm of the cooperative federations to participate in the function is also noticeable at the desk of Indian Cooperative which is flooded with the requests of putting banner on the portal’s home page welcoming the international delegates.

More than one thousand delegates have already registered themselves. The number of people participating in the Congress is said to be not less than a couple of thousand. The registration charge for national federations was Rs 10,000 while it was Rs 8000 for state federations. For cooperative banks it was kept at Rs 4000.
