NCCT locks horns with NCUI !

National Council of Co-operative Training (NCCT) and National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) have locked their horns on the issue of loan taken by latter from the former.

NCCT which has been part of NCUI till now is yearning to break free of the parent body and emerge a premier pack of training institutions, said a source on condition of anonymity.

Some years ago NCUI took a loan of Rs 5.1 crore from NCCT but has refused to pay back the amount leading to intervention by the agricultural ministry. In a letter the Ministry has asked the apex cooperative organization to return the money.

Downplaying the issue NCCT Chief Mohan Mishra told Indian Cooperative that the issue has been hanging in balance since the last 4-5 years and there is nothing new about it presently.

But informed sources told Indian Cooperative that the matter has perturbed NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh no end. Mr Yadav is believed to have called Chief Executive Dr Dinesh and asked him to resolve the issue sooner than later. It is being said that the new Central Registrar Bhutani has taken up the matter seriously and is shooting letters to the NCUI.

Bhutani is also said to have written a letter to NCUI to meet a long-term demand of the Ministry; appointing Chairmen of state cooperative unions as the regional heads of ICMs.

There are many violations but the states not holding cooperative elections are also partly responsible for it. But those governing the NCUI have been accused of distributing the posts of ICM Chairmanship on extraneous considerations.
