NCCT forced to postpone meeting

The scheduled meeting of NCCT, the training arm of National Cooperative Union of India for Monday was shelved due to confusion over the election code of conduct.

Though the Chairman of the apex body Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav who had to preside over the meeting, had come all the way, the meeting did not take place.

The main hitch was confusion stemming out of the fact that Mr Yadav is contesting Lok Sabha election on the ticket of Samajwadi Party from Jhansi. NCUI officials were confused and sought the advice of the Ministry of agriculture and cooperation.

The Ministry in turn tired to seek permission from the election commission but till late evening, the Commission’s response did not come leading to the postponement of the maiden meeting of newly formed NCCT Committee.

Later Ministry’s fax arrived and stated that the meeting has to wait till the clearance from the Election Commission. Luckily, the members were informed in advance about the postponement saving them from the pain of travelling to Delhi.

Earlier, the NCUI’s Governing Council has taken exception to the way many of its recommended names including that of G H Amin were deleted from the newly constituted NCCT Committee.

Some of the new faces on the Committee are those of Jaya Arunachalam and Mukund Abhyankar.
