Nafed Chairmanship: NCUI Prez against tainted candidate

Chandrapal SinghYadavNCUI President Chandra Pal Singh is vouching strongly against any tainted cooperative leader occupying the top post in any cooperative organization. He was talking in reference to Nafed election.

In an exclusive interview given to Indian Cooperative NCUI President unburdened himself and said that the cooperative is passing through a tough phase. It is one thing to fight the govt on ideological issues but quite another to lend support to somebody who is entangled into court cases.

Readers are aware that in the race to Chairmanship of Nafed, name of Vishal Singh is doing rounds. Vishal is caught in an ongoing court case where recovery notices to the tune of Rs 32 crores had been served on him. There are many others in the Board against whom recovery orders have been issued.

Without taking his name Chandra Pal said that what if such person loses court cases tomorrow. The agri-cooperative will get unstable once again, he argued.

I am not opposed to any individual as such and in fact I like Vishal a lot. What I am trying to underline is probity in public life. I want a person who has no pending cases against him as the Chairman, he added emphatically.

There is news in media gallery that Bijender Singh, the outgoing Chairman has fondness for Vishal Singh and he may float the name of the same. Though, Bijendra Singh was diplomatic enough to avoid query from Indian Cooperative, he handed over phone to R S Joon. Joon was uncertain as were many other directors whom we contacted to find the name of the consensus candidate for the Nafed Chairmanship.

Bijender Singh is keeping the card close to his chest.
