Lecturer Scam: High Court stays NCUI order

NCUI Lecturer appointment issue looks headed for a legal road block as Delhi High Court has ordered stay on the matter till the hearing of the case is completed. It has fixed February 16 as the next day of hearing.

The lecturers who were appointed and later removed after the incidents of large-scale  wrong-doing were reported had moved court for stay. Delhi High Court has stayed the order of NCUI thereby allowing about 30 appointees to rejoin.

Talking to Indiancooperative.com NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh said that” honouring High Court order we have sent massages to all the candidates to join office and NCUI is obliged to pay them salary till court completes its hearing”.

Earlier, six of the affected candidates had approached Guwahati High Court with the petition of staying NCUI order of cancelling their appointments. High Court had ruled in their favour. Making this ruling as its basis Delhi High Court also ruled stay till the entire matter is heard.

Readers may recall that about 46 lecturers appointed in the month of May,2011 were later shown door after  putting in 2-3 months of service.

Lecturer appointment issue caused serious standoff between Ministry and NCUI  leading to fund cut. Chief Executive Dr Dinesh and President Dr Chandra Pal Singh had met Union agricultural minister Sharad Pawar. They also met Secretary in the Ministry who was not happy with the style of functioning of NCUI. Later Ministry expressed satisfaction at the move(cancellation of appointment) and had  softened its stand on the issue.

Given the judicial pace in the country the matter is sure to hang fire for a long time.
