Ex-Minister asks rich co-ops to contribute to technology

A three day Leadership Development Program for Chairmen and Directors of Odisha State Cooperative Union was recently held at NCCE, New Delhi, informs NCUI ‘s press release.

The LDP was conducted for Capacity building and Build – up Governance Skills of the Board of directors of Odisha State Cooperative Union.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Leela Devi R.Prasad, Ex- Minister of Karnataka State Government and Former Rajya Sabha member along with Dr V K Dubey, Director NCCE and his faculty team.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Devi said cooperatives should work for a cause and perform not only to gain recognition as fully autonomous organizations. She added that “It is really sad that cooperatives are not having adequate infrastructure and administration despite good Government schemes for them”.

The profit making sectors for cooperatives like the Fisheries, Dairy, Credit and Banking are needed to develop modern technology. The training sessions should be systematized and more inter exchange of participants from local and outside should be arranged in a proper manner for knowledge sharing, she noted.

The participants attending the LDP also shared their opinions regarding the arrangements, study visits and knowledge gained during the training sessions. The topics covered during the discussions were cooperative thoughts and management , entrepreneurship skills, project planning & implementation, micro project planning and its implementation, use of IT in co-op banks, GST and role of mass media in cooperative education.

These training sessions provided valuable learning inputs for skill development and diversification of business of cooperative societies for increasing profit.
