Amin makes CM focus on co-op issues

G.H.AminThe vice-president of NCUI and the recently re-elected Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union G H Amin achieved a major breakthrough when he invited the Gujarat Chief Minister in a co-operative seminar and made her focus on the issues plaguing the cooperative sector in the state.

The Chief Minister Anandi Ben Patel was candid enough to admit that she knows little about cooperatives but assured that she would study the relevant laws governing cooperative and do her best. One of the few things that she promised was cooperative schemes would go online in the manner other govt departments do.

The seminar was organized by State Cooperative Union in Ahmadabad. Besides Amin, women’s cooperative committee’s Dipti Patel and several other cooperative leaders participated in the seminar.

The CM said that the pending issues of cooperative sector would be taken up one by one. Amin raised the issue of paucity of staff. He also referred to dwindling fund.

Boasting of strong cooperative roots Amin said that Gujarat has about 70,000 cooperative societies with a membership crossing one crore. A little attention by the govt would go a long way in solving the problems of the sector, he added.
