NAFED director invokes PM Modi’s mantra

ashok thakurNot much to do at the apex agri-cooperative NAFED, the nominated Director of the Board Ashok Thakur is focusing else ware to educate farmers on the merit of cooperative movement. He recently participated in a function in Karnal in Haryana and asked farmers to fashion themselves on the lines of businessman.

Farming, processing and marketing of agricultural produce could be very well handled by an ably managed cooperative. Thakur exhorted farmers to seek refuse in the cooperative structure. The topic of the seminar was “Crop production- problems and solutions”.

He said National Seed Corporation and Seed Department are responsible for deplorable conditions of farmers as they provide farmers with bad quality seeds that harm their production.

Thakur said a new slogan ” jai jawan jai kisan jai vigyan” as coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could inspire farmers into yoking their activities together with science and thus enabling them to compete with their counterparts in the rest of the world.

Farmers should double as merchants in that this would greatly help them improve their economic conditions, Thakur, remarked. The chairman of Agriculture federation development Dr Sardar Singh, BJP Leader Randhir Mahla, Ishwar Singh and many others including farmers from states like Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh participated in the seminar.
