Nafed Board members rise in arms against the MD

Soon after we wrote that Nafed is run more by its MD Sanjeev Chadha than by the team of elected co-operators, Indian Cooperative has got access to the details of the Wednesday Board meeting in which one of the Directors expressed his displeasure at the state of affairs in the cooperative.

Dr Sunil Kumar Singh Chairman of Biscomaun and one of the members on the Board of Nafed is believed to have said “I fear that voices of most of the Board members were muted in the meeting in a planned manner so that the MD had his way.”

Sunil also fears a conspiratorial role of the Nafed IT section in the entire affair to help the MD in his bid to perform a non-serious Board meeting on the one hand and go ahead with his own agenda on the other hand.

Sunil has asked Gulati, OSD in Nafed to treat his participation nil as he is neither being heard nor being allowed to make his point. The entire transcript of Sunil’s textual exchange is with Indian Cooperative.

Calling the entire Board meeting nothing but a joke Sunil has vowed to write to the Nafed Chairman registering his complaints. “Yes, you can publish it; I do not fear anyone and would always speak if I think things are not moving according to the established norms”, he dared.

Indian Cooperative has also learnt that Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, who also happens to be on the Board of Nafed was angry with the MD in the Board meeting. He is believed to have accused the MD of running its affairs in an arbitrary manner. “This is not good”, he is believed to have warned.

It bears recall that the NAFED MD came in for sharp criticism by the Union Consumer Affair Minister Ram Vilas Paswan who was agitated when state ministers complained to him that pulses are not being made available to them by Nafed as promised earlier.

The matter later reached the PMO which asked the Ministry to explain the delay.

It is believed that Ram Vilas Paswan straight away complained to the Prime minister that the Secretary Pawan Agrawal is not listening to him on the issue. The PMO initiated the move to transfer Agrawal then and there.

Next in the line of fire is Nafed MD Sanjeev Chadha, said a top Ministry source.
