Nafcub’s All-India Conference stands postponed

The much hyped 10th All India Conference of UCBs & Co-op Societies of Nafcub scheduled in the first week of February stands postponed inconveniencing hundreds of delegates who have already booked tickets and made arrangements for their stay in the national capital.

Indian Cooperative has received several mails from the affected delegates who have not even been properly informed about the cancellation, underscoring once again the inept handling of situation by the Nafcub secretariat.

“We have paid Rs. 31,462/- as registration fees for our 4 delegates on 18.09.2014 also submitted registration sheets but till today we have not received any schedule, confirmation of our delegates from your side’, reads one of the many mails.

The reinstated President of Nafcub Jyotindra Mehta said the conference was postponed not cancelled and was done due to a lack of proper venue, thereby ruling out the present tussle as the plausible cause of the postponement.

If you do not believe me, I can mail you the cancellation letter from DDA which gave Siri Fort first to us but later cancelled it in favour of some Bhojpuri Film Festival, Mehta said. Then we decided to hold it in NCUI but the auditorium capacity is only 600 persons and we are expecting anything between 1200-1500, he underlined.

On the issue of refund of delegates’ fees Chief Executive of NAFCUB Subhas Gupta said since it is postponement the question does not arise. But on the issue of loss incurred on cancellation of tickets etc by the delegates, Gupta said “we will see’.
