NAFCUB AGM: Delegates seek media support

On the occasion of the NAFCUB’s 39th AGM delegates put emphasis on the role of the media and sought their support in solving the issues currently plaguing the urban cooperative bank sector.

Shanta Jain from Sonipat said if the cooperative sector will be converted into private banks, the objectives of the cooperative movement will automatically get reduced. If the government does not provide any support to cooperative banks, then why they should charge income tax from them, he asked.

A delegate from Rajasthan said if the cooperative movement is denied support from the media , the movement will not last long.  We have to involve the media in our activities, he noted.

One of the delegates suggested that NAFCUB should form a team which only fights for the removal of income tax from coop banks. Jasbir said we should file a petition in the SC against the high powered committee recommendations on converting coop banks into private banks.

Rajkot Nagrik Sahkari bank, ex chairman said we all should get together and fight against the RBI ukase.
