Buoyed up with the victory, the re-elected President of apex body of Urban Cooperative Bank and Credit Societies Nafcub Jyotindrabhai Mehta said that one of his top priorities would be to make the apex body as broad-based as possible in the next five years.
“There are over 1550 Urban Cooperative Bank across country but a few of them are not yet our member because they are not financially strong or could not afford the subscription, we will work on to make them members”, he said soon after winning the election.
“As what happened in the last ten years we will not look on those matters. But we will work on the issues including income tax, Board of Management, Branch Expansion and many other things will be resolved”, he stressed.
Mehta further said our main goal is to achieve Umbrella organization because it will empower the urban cooperative banking sector in a big way. Hope that the dream of making Umbrella Organization will be achieved sooner than later.
On this occasion Nafcub, Vice-President, Vidyadhar Anaskar thanked the members, directors and others for honoring him again as the VP of Nafcub. Our gates are open anyone can join us and contribute for the well being of the cooperative banking sector even the panel defeated in the election.
The new Chairman Emeritus H.K.Patil also spoke on this occasion and said, “We have spent our so much time in 
“Cooperative sector is right now in danger, as the sector is facing a number of hurdles: mindset of people, government, RBI, NABAD and other concerned authorities should be changed for cooperatives”, he added.
He further said, “With the induction of one of our leaders Satish Marathe on the central board of RBI, we are sure that the things will change simultaneously. Now there is one who will listen our voice”.
Patil also said, “I know that there are many issues related to employees of Nafcub. We are not able to give facilities on par with the NCUI employees but we will encourage them”, he claimed.
Satish Marathe was also there at NCUI headquarters on the festive occasion of the Nafcub elections. “I am here to meet cooperators as you get them in large numbers on such occasions. I have nothing to do with the elections but I want to interact with each of them to know the issues facing them”, said Marathe who represents the co-op sector on the Board of RBI.
