On the 13th day of the long chase at Rio Olympics 2016 PV Sindhu displayed the best performance of this Olympic so far by reaching the final of the badminton women’s singles. The excitement was dampened a little bit by the news that wrestler Narsingh Yadav has been banned for four years on doping charges.

PV Sindhu has however ensured either a silver or gold medal for India in Rio. On Wednesday Sindhu had defeated World No 2 Wang Yihan. She registered a 21-19, 21-10 triumph in the semi-finals and become the first Indian shuttler to enter the final of the Olympics.

Sindhu is 21-year-old and belongs to Hyderabad. She has now gone one better than Saina Nehwal, who won the bronze medal earlier in London, and became the first ever Indian to enter a badminton final at the Games.

Sindhu will meet Spain’s World No one Carolina Marin in the final.
