Poverty-alleviation only through agriculture: IFFCO MD

Referring to the large number of poor in the world IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi said more than three fourth of poor are rural based and agriculture alone offers the hope of helping them come out of the vicious cycle of poverty.

Underscoring this, he tweeted “We need to push & enhance #Agriculture as 3/4 of world’s poor are rural based & depends on #agriculture for living.”

IFFCO MD reiterated the cooperative behemoth’s commitment to farmers and tweeted to say come what may the fertilizer cooperative would continue to render services to the farmers.

IFFCO has all India presence as sight of its fertilizer bags in remote areas being a commonplace experience. Dr Awasthi claimed IFFCO reaches out to farmers in Ladakh and Leh in north and in Kochi in South. It reaches to Sundervan in east and to Jaisalmer in the west.

His weekend tweet read” #IFFCO is always committed to #Farmers service. It reaches to #farmer from #Kashmir to #Kochi, #Jaisalmer to #Sunderbans. #TransformingIndia

Last year we had carried detailed stories of IFFCO packing off its team to the southernmost part of the country- Kerala after fulfilling its commitment to the farmers of Leh and Kargil in J&K.

IFFCO’s team of 12-14 men to Kargil and Leh had taken the help of Indian Army.
